ototoi & sokosoko
From late summer to the weather turning to autumn, we've been busy these last couple of weeks and have not one, but two new projects.
ototoi —
the day before yesterday in Japanese — is an open-source, self-hosted
checkin and lifelogging web app.
We've been testing it for the last two months here at the studio, and have thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgia of
early 2010s checkin apps like Foursquare or Gowalla.
Given ototoi is self-hosted and only you control who gets an account on your instance, your data
privacy is preserved and in your hands. It uses OpenStreetMap data for looking up locations.
sokosoko is a writing environment for quick drafting. It is privacy-preserving – no account is needed, no logs are collected, and all data is stored in the browser.
Rabbit Rabbit v2
We've released a major new version of Rabbit Rabbit, the same functionality as before, but with much smoother map interactions.
Given that Rabbit Rabbit is just a map, this update required a full rewrite replacing Leaflet with MapLibre. And thanks to OpenFreeMap for providing a free service for worldwide map tiles, this wouldn't be possible for small projects like Rabbit Rabbit otherwise.
Just in time for the 1st of February. The first of every month is Rabbit Rabbit day!
